Interests

I am a French photographer living in the UK. My background as a geographer and an environmental scientist is perhaps the reason why I am interested in documenting how environmental issues and a changing climate affect people. I am currently working on a number of projects looking at the informal economy of waste and recycling throughout the world.

Bio

My passion for photography started as a teenager in the dark room of my parents’ basement. Although I was too shy then to take the pictures I wanted, I was fascinated with the printing process. The following decades were spent developing a career as an environmental scientist. That and taking and printing pictures. Slowly and patiently, I got over my fear of being seen and I started to get closer to my subjects. These days, most of my work is taken in the street. I love capturing what might not otherwise be seen, I love waiting for scenes to unfold through my viewfinder. I love the quiet moments too. It’s all about patience and persistence. And faith. And every now and then, the stars align: somebody does something unusual or walks through the light or who knows… and it’s just the best feeling.

But sometimes street photography feels too fast and superficial. So now I am getting close in a different way- working on documentary projects allows me to take my time and to try and build a relationship with my subject. I am interested in environmental issues, waste, recycling and climate change, and how it affects people. These are the stories I want to tell. So maybe I have finally found a way of combining science and art?
