Five windows
This project was shot during lockdown between March and June 2020.
As lockdown changes our lives and we look inwards, the windows become a strange connection with the outside world: they keep the world out, but still let a bit of the world in. And life goes on - Inside. Adaptation. A new routine. A new use of space. Like groundhog day, a never-ending rollercoaster of fear, joy, arguments, little pleasures, sadness and belly laughs. One minute we feel positive and relieved to be alive, blessed to have realised what is important in life; the next minute we feel sad and helpless from the loss, the worry, the uncertainty, the claustrophobia, and from all the things we miss - loved ones, freedom, hugs and touch. Every day I make a list of all the good things that happened that day. Some days the only thing that makes it on the list is noticing the beautiful blossoms of the cherry tree in the park, and that is enough. It has to be.
So here it is: lockdown with five windows to the outside world.
